Description

Methanol is oxidized to form carbon dioxide with anodic catalyst, and electrons and protons are released, in which protons are transported to the cathode through electrolyte membrane.
The electrons working through the external circuit are transferred to the cathode region.
The electrochemical reduction reaction occurs with protons and oxygen reaching the cathode catalytic layer under the action of the cathode electrocatalyst to produce water.
Under standard conditions, the specific energy of methanol fuel is 0.9L/KWH.
